Our Story

Our founders, Mark and Jake Swenson, are a father-son duo who began working together over 20 years ago in Northern Wisconsin. As second and third generation homebuilders, Mark had Jake on the jobsite as soon as he could swing a hammer. After graduating college in 2018, Jake decided to keep building homes with his dad rather than pursue an engineering career. Unfortunately, during their first official home build as business partners, Mark suffered from a tragic motorcycle accident, severing his spinal cord at chest level, breaking his neck, ribs and collarbone, along with shattering his shoulder blade.

Jake finished the project alone, but with lots of support from Mark via phone and facetime. Mark spent the next 6 months recovering from the accident in a care facility, but once he got home he was determined to continue his calling of construction in a wheelchair. While Jake stepped into the role of onsite foreman, Mark took over behind-the-scenes responsibilities as well as becoming an adept truss designer.

In 2019, Swenson Home Builders migrated to Prescott, Arizona. Since then, they have quickly garnered a reputation for bringing integrity, quality, and family values to their work in the Quad City area. The team has also grown within the family–Mark’s wife, Michelle Swenson, has been able to bring her accounting and design skills to the company. Mark’s daughter, Mackenzie, came on board in 2022 working directly with Custom Home clients and managing general operations.
